A Framer alternative you can take with you

Builder Studio is a visual website builder whose sites you can host with us or export as an Astro project. Here is when it is worth trying instead of Framer, and when Framer is the better fit.

Switch for the right reasons

Reasons to try Builder Studio

  • You may want to host the site yourself one day, with its CMS content.
  • You want an agent, yours over MCP or Builder in the editor, to build pages and generate images, video and sound on the same canvas.

Reasons to stay on Framer

  • You rely on Framer's localization add-on or its A/B testing.
  • Your team knows Framer well and the site works as it is.
  • Moving a site is a rebuild in Builder Studio, page by page, not a file import.

Try it with one page

  1. Rebuild a page

Take a screenshot of a Framer page you know well and ask Builder to rebuild it on the canvas as editable layers.

  2. Check what matters

Review the layout at desktop, tablet and mobile widths, then the fonts, images, links and forms.

  3. Publish it

Publish to a builder.website subdomain, or connect your own domain on a paid plan. Export the Astro project if you want to see the code.

Before you move

Do I have to move every site at once?

No. Rebuild one page, publish it on a builder.website address, and decide from there.

Can I import a Framer project file?

No. Rebuild pages from screenshots with Builder, or paste frames from Figma if your designs started there. See the full comparison.

How should I compare costs?

Count the sites you run, the people who edit, your CMS items and your AI use, then price that against Builder Studio pricing and Framer pricing.
