Published site
A live website compiled from the pages of one canvas and served on a builder.website subdomain or your own domain. Each publish is kept as a version you can return to.
How it works in Builder Studio
Each canvas can have one site, and its pages are the canvas's pages. Publishing compiles them into HTML and CSS, copies the media they use, and serves the result at the site's address. Every site gets a builder.website subdomain. You can also connect a domain you own or buy one. Custom domains start on Starter (US$9/mo) with 1, up to 10 on Studio.
Each publish includes:
- Page titles, descriptions and social images
- A sitemap, robots.txt, structured data and llms.txt
- Redirects, including a 301 from a page's old address when you move it
- Forms that visitors can submit, and a custom 404 page
Versions
Before you publish, preview the draft and see how many changes it holds against the live version. Publish now or schedule a time. Each publish is kept as a version, and rolling back makes an earlier version live again without rebuilding it.
Sites with CMS collections publish a page for each item. When only content changes, you can republish the content without republishing the design. Styles come from the canvas's design graph, so the live page uses the same design tokens as the canvas.
Hosting it yourself
To run the site somewhere else, export the canvas as an Astro project with its routes, CMS content and SEO settings, and carry on in a repository.
