Skill
A set of written instructions an agent loads when a task calls for it. Builder ships with built-in skills, and each workspace can write and publish its own.
A skill is a document with three parts: a name, a short description of when to use it, and the instructions themselves. An agent sees each skill's name and description, and reads the full instructions only when a request matches.
How it works in Builder Studio
Builder, the agent inside the product, ships with built-in skills for designing pages, planning a set of images, video or sound, choosing a model, writing prompts, and repairing a publish that failed.
Your workspace can add its own skills: your brand's voice, a client's page structure, the checks a page must pass before it goes live. Write one in the Library, or upload a SKILL.md file, the Agent Skills format. A new skill starts as a private draft, and Builder can load it once someone in the workspace publishes it. To make sure Builder uses a skill in a conversation, attach it to your message.
Open a skill on the canvas and it appears as a document beside your pages, where you can read it next to the work it guides. A workspace skill cannot take the name of a built-in one, because Builder looks up built-in skills first.
For connected agents
Agents connected over MCP can read and save workspace skills with skill_list, skill_get and skill_save. An agent can write a draft but cannot publish it; a person publishes it in the Library.
